Online Safety

Online Safety

At Deaf Minds Education, we're passionate about working with schools and parents to ensure Deaf children stay safe online.

With an ever-growing choice of social media platforms to choose from, the online world is a rich and exciting environment in which young Deaf people can explore, engage and find entertainment. Sadly though, as we all know, it can very often also be a potentially dangerous place, especially for children. There are a host of potential threats ever present, ranging from online bullying through to grooming.

This vital in-school workshop has been developed to equip school staff and leaders and the learners in their care with the tools they need to ensure their learners enjoy a secure and positive experience online. The workshop sets out to bring attendees up-to-date with the latest platforms and help them to stay abreast of the potential risks young people can be exposed to when using popular platforms including Facebook and Twitter. During the session, attendees will learn:

  • How to report online abuse, racism and hate crimes.
  • Tips for ensuring children stay safe when using internet.
  • What to do if they are exposed to something upsetting online and how to report inappropriate behaviour or content.

Our Online Safety training course comes in two different formats. We carry out:

  • a half day course that runs over a three hour session.
  • a full day course that runs over a six hour session.
